چکیده

This paper uses the framework of a Mass Spectrometry application to introduce a new method of peak picking as well as two active set methods for the minimization of the elastic-net-functional. The application of peak picking is essential in mass spectrometry and is often based on mean spectra. In contrast our procedure uses a set of spectra obtained from a basis learning method. Our procedure utilizes the well known `-minimization and corresponding active set algorithms but comprises ill conditioned operators such that regularization is required. We show, that the elastic-net gives a natural justification for Tikhonov-Philipsregularization in the used algorithms. Therefore we introduce adaptions of known active set algorithms for `-minimization to the elastic net. Furthermore, we emphasize the differences of the algorithms for ` and the elastic-net in numerical examples.

Bayesian Quantile Regression with Adaptive Elastic Net Penalty for Longitudinal Data

Longitudinal studies include the important parts of epidemiological surveys, clinical trials and social studies. In longitudinal studies, measurement of the responses is conducted repeatedly through time. Often, the main goal is to characterize the change in responses over time and the factors that influence the change. Recently, to analyze this kind of data, quantile regression has been taken ...

Anti-Asthma effect of an active components group from decoction of Pheretima Aspergillum and its chemical composition characterized by Liquid chromatography-quadrupole time of flight mass spectrometry

The decoction of Pheretima aspergillum is used as a traditional medicine for treatment of asthma in China with a long clinical history. The aim of the study was to investigate the anti-asthma activities of an active components group obtained from the decoction of Pheretima aspergillum in histamine and ovalubumin induced asthma guinea pigs. The incubation period of asthma, serum IFN-γ, IL-4 and ...

On Analytic Solutions of Elastic Net Displacements around a Circular Tunnel

Displacements around a tunnel, occurring as a result of excavation, consist of the elastic and plastic parts. In this paper, we discuss the elastic part of displacements as a result of excavation, called net displacement. In general, the previous analytical solutions presented for determining the displacements around a circular tunnel in an elastic medium do not give the net displacements...

Liquefied Residual Strength of Undrained Sand upon A Parametric Approach to Hypo-elastic Model

A parametric study approach evaluating drained/undrained behavior of sand has been developed as a simple/quick hypo-elastic model capable of being used in engineering applications. The volumetric interaction of sand grains behavior against pore water pressure induces the tendency of soil mass volume change to contract/dilate due to variation of effective mean stress on solid grain, pore water p...
